Guitaring is undeniably one of my passion. My hobby. My past time. You get the point, heeh~
Naturally, I had been wanting to get a decent electro-acoustics guitar and had been scouting around in Penang for the "one"
And at last...
The date was 28th April.
On that particular rainy night,in a small room somewhere... a little celebration took place as the new family member had arrived. The room is pretty crowded with musical instruments as it is!
I hope there are no sibling rivalries.
This is what I got for myself!
CPX-700 Compass Series ..

I love the slightly small build design, and the colour I chose was the sun burst. Striking it is!
A head turner. The compass logo on the guitar head (made of mother of pearl)... is sorts of attracts me every time I look at it.

Overall, I would give a perfect score for her looks. She's a beauty alright!
But I recalled one of my friend once quipped during a recent vacation "Don't always go for pretty looks.Must consider her inner beauty also mar.."
So fine..lets talk about her "inner beauty" then.. :D
As for the sound, it has a nice warm acoustics. Amid a little high pitch for my liking.
Noticed that the tension is a abit high. Probably I would change to a lighter gauge strings and tighten up the action head, that should work out the sound to my hearing taste.
Also,I noticed the higher strings (G,B,E) intermittently gives a slight buzzing sound if I strummed it forcefully. I searched online in guitar forums, true enough..few others experienced the same thing! But overall, this model earned good reviews across the globe.
I think this is one small flaw for this model...but I guess no one is perfect right?
- Am I referring the guitar more like a human being now? haha
The main body, curveous and sexy, I must say... is built with Asian Mahogany on the back and side, reasonable good wood, though not the best choice.Only the fret board is made of rosewood while the top is made of spruce.
A guitar with full rosewood build on the back, side and fretboard resonates a much vibrant sound, like my housemate Sam's guitar. Or the taylor acoustic that I had tried at the shop.
But oh well, that's the compromise I had made based on my budget :)
Small flaws aside, this compass model series boast of the new System 56 pick-up system which uses the ART - Acoustic Resonance Transducer technology which in short, reduces feedback/ distortion and this hence enhance the natural acoustics sound. Sounds canggih.. rite?

I had tested and plugged the channel to my mini monitor, the output sounded crisp, though the volume output is low. I need to push the volume knob considerably way up, before getting a clear loud sound I need. It might be the limitation of my monitor.
Nevertheless,I have yet to try this out on stage and gauge the pre-amp's performance.
All in all....Yes,I am proud of this choice!
Hope this new addition will bring me further to the unexplored realm of vast musicality.
This post becomes more and more like a guitar review :) I shall stop here!
So,to all guitarist out there... keep guitaring....and remember to wash your hands...and cut down on fast foods...
